The acclaimed singer and actress Fatoumata Diawara is one of the most powerful voices in West African music. Born in Côte d’Ivoire and raised in Mali, she has created a unique artistic expression rooted in Wassoulou, afropop, and soul. With her distinctive voice, poetic lyricism, and virtuosic guitar playing, she is a sparkling source of energy and an innovative force.

Diawara broke through in 2011 with the album *Fatou* and has since cemented her position as a groundbreaking artist through a long line of strong releases and collaborations with Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz, Herbie Hancock, -M- (Matthieu Chedid), and many others.

In the footsteps of the Malian singer Oumou Sangaré, Fatoumata Diawara weaves together personal stories with broader themes of women’s rights, identity, and migration, always infused with a sense of hope for the future. “Je suis Mali! I am Mali!” she sings on her latest album *Lamomali Totem*, in the song she created together with -M-, Toumani Diabaté, and Sidiki Diabaté.

When Fatou now returns to Uppsala Konsert & Kongress, she does so with her new album *Massa*, to be released in March 2026. The dance floor is ready for a live artist renowned for a stage presence that is as magnetic as it is visually powerful.

We are proud to present one of Mali’s absolute greatest artists!
