Orchestra Baobab was founded in 1970 in Dakar and is more than just a band – they are an institution, a cornerstone of African music. Originally formed as a club band inspired by the Afro-Cuban wave that swept across West Africa, Baobab quickly developed their own style, blending Mandinka, Wolof, and Serer influences with Latin rhythms and timeless elegance.

In spring 2026, Baobab will release their first new album in eight years. But before that, Orchestra Baobab will give concert audiences a taste of what’s to come – with raw energy and timeless magic on stage – a vibrant testament to their influence and virtuosity.

The concert is a collaboration between Kulturhuset Stadsteatern, YOF, and Selam.
